Lots of Bobcats issued at Second Pack Meeting
Posted by Robert in Pack Events, Pack News on September 27, 2010
Our second pack meeting of the year is just on the books, and boy did we get some bobcat badges issued! Nearly all of our new scouts from round up have already completed their bobcat badge requirements and were awarded their badges. We also had several scouts earn various belt loops and pins and some progress towards ranks beads for the Bear Den. Our pack flag was also adorned with our 2010 Summertime Activity Award Ribbon, and 6 scouts were recognized for earning their Summertime Activity Pins. Congratulations, Scouts!
Bear Den is Taken to Court
The Bears took a wonderful field trip this evening to the old Courthouse in Downtown Evansville this evening. The boys learned a lot about this historic piece of Evansville’s past. A big thank you to Kelly Coors of the Vanderburgh County Courthouse Foundation for providing such a wonderful and informative tour.

I want to say thank you to everyone that showed up to help sort and organize our show and sell popcorn and a huge thank you to Paul and Kyle from Aramark for donating and driving the truck for us! Thank You! And a reminder to pack 371 families that Popcorn Pickup is Monday night between 6 and 8 PM.
Bears, Bikes, and Ice Cream
The Bears met up on the east side tonight for some bicycle maintenance instruction at Gilles Bicycle shop on Green River Road followed by some good old ice cream! A big thank you to Jerry and the crew at Gilles for their Hospitality this evening!
Tiger Cubs Kicking off the Year
This evening the Tiger Cubs of 2010-2011, had their very first Den Meeting ever! Tiger cubs are starting out the year working on a few Cub Scout fundamentals such as the Cub Scout Promise, the Law of the Pack, the Cub Scout Handshake, Salute and Sign and a variety of other basics they’ll need to learn to earn their way to their Bobcat Badge. Good work Tiger Cubs! You guys are looking sharp in your uniforms!
Webelos 1 Den Getting Fit!

The Webelos 1s took advantage of some great weather this evening to get started on their Athlete Activity Pin. Boys were tested on a variety of physical activities including pushups, situps and a quarter mile run. Boys are encouraged to practice these elements regularly, and will be tested again several times over the next few weeks. Hopefully we’ll see lots of improvement!
Derby Cabinet Close To Completion
A few more hours put into the cabinet today with the help of some hardworking scouts. Only some small pieces of trim remain and it will be finished for good. Thanks to everyone that has helped to bring this to reality for us.
Work Begins in Scout Room
Work has begun in the scout room on the new bench/pinewood derby track storage box. Yesterday Asst. Cubmaster Brady, my two boys and myself got together at the church and began work on this project that has been on the idea shelf for more than four years. The box has been framed, thelids are built and carpet has been put on the interior. Today it will get a fresh coat of stain and some trim and it should be done. Check out the pics!
FIELD DAY RSVP DEADLINE EXTENDED
We are extending the Field Day RSVP Deadline to September 24th. We have a pack meeting that day, and it will be your last opportunity to RSVP for Field Day. A $5 deposit is required for all scouts except those that are new this year.
